A User-led Initiative in Mental Health

An on-line Directory of local community resources, activities and mental health services is now operating in Westminster. The Directory is designed by mental health service users, with technical help from a professional. It is being kept up-to-date by a group of interested volunteers, meeting fortnightly. It has been funded by the local NHS Primary Care Trust.

It was launched in January 2008 by local MP Karen Buck, and six months later we find that it is being visited extensively by Westminster services users and staff, looking for suitable activities in the community.

This local initiative does not claim to be the first online mental health service directory, but we believe it offers a model that's attractive and simple. Find it on http://www.go4mentalhealth.com

Comments on Hyphen-21
“We feel that Hyphen-21 is doing some very important work designed to connect people to people, and people to community - their work on a code of good practice for ward rounds and their "Poems for the Waiting Room" project are particularly potent examples.”
Consumer Consultancy (Brighton)

“ I initially accessed your site as I was interested in your Poems for the Waiting Room project. However I am now really impressed by the other projects you have set up. My colleagues have also looked at your website and enjoyed the content too… We provide support and advice to drug users and their families. This involves needle exchange, counselling, access to funding for rehab, etc..I would like to express my support for your charity.”
